Kinaxia is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our busy transport operation in Norwich. As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of our fleet by planning and coordinating collections and deliveries, maximising vehicle utilisation, and maintaining high service standards for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute daily collection and delivery schedules using the most efficient and cost-effective methods.
  • Maximise fleet utilisation by allocating drivers, vehicles and trailers effectively while meeting customer requirements.
  • Use Transport Management Systems (TMS), customer portals and internal IT systems to manage transport operations efficiently.
  • Liaise closely with the Workshop to ensure vehicle and trailer availability, incorporating maintenance schedules into operational plans.
  • Communicate daily transport plans clearly to drivers and the wider transport team to ensure efficient execution.
  • Manage staffing levels, including agency drivers where required, to ensure customer commitments are consistently met.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, communicating proactively regarding schedules, delays and operational updates.
  • Plan and coordinate next-day operations, process customer bookings and provide transport quotations where required.
  • Support colleagues through cross-training and provide operational cover when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and comply with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in a Transport Planner or similar logistics planning role.
  • Good knowledge of UK road transport legislation, including:
    • Driver Hours and Working Time Regulations
    • EU/UK Tachograph Rules
    • Highway Code
    • Road Transport Regulations
  • Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills with both customers and colleagues.
  • A proactive attitude with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service.
